For those who are curious, yes I am gone and I don't intend to be back soon. I never formally said goodbye to you all, because that always becomes a forum stink. However, to my friends here, I wish you the best. Perhaps I'll be back one day but for now this is goodbye.

Depends on the sprite I make. For bigger sprites or sprites with complex animations I use Paint Shop Pro. For smaller stuff, I occasionally use Paint.

Since I had Adobe before spriting, that's just naturally what I ended up using. Don't need all the fancy FX, but never hurts to have them. :)

GameMaker I use simply to do mass color swaps that would take way longer to do in Paint.

Amongst other things

also great to look at your animation as you go without having to put it in GIF format.

Only allows one undo though which is a little awkward.

If you want to swap and entire set of sprites though, best off saving them all as a GIF and then editing the palette in Irfan View.

Ya I use paint for anything I need to free hand. Then I put them back in Game Maker to see them in action.
