Dude that's awesome. I've been wanting to see Riddick in mugen for a while now. If you are going to make him a character, you definitely have to make him fight with his blades. I get tired of seeing characters just fight with their hands, and only use their weapons during hypers or specials. Good work though on the sprite, I like it a lot.

Would if I could, but I'm just a spriter.  Best I can do is lay a foundation-- I know nothing of base coding.  If I did, I'd tear it up.

Also tried to give him a shiv but I didn't like how it was turning out

Yeah man, he would be an awesome character. You should definitely make some more sprites for him and that might inspire a coder to help you out. I know you said too that you tried to give him a shiv and it didn't look too good, but if I remember correctly a shiv is just a little shank screwdriver thing, and what you should give him are his blades that he has. I did a little edit to your sprites to show you my attempt at them. I know it's not good, but maybe it will give you some more motivation to try and add some blades again.

Well... I have a tendency of getting ahead of myself.  I also have a tendency to brainstorm to great extents on little or no basis.

here's a possible badass combination of fury and flavor I came up with:

Sound files can be ripped from Dark Fury, Pitch Black, Escape From Butcher Bay, and Assault On Dark Athena  The injury audio need only be taken from Dark Fury, as it has plenty of variety.

Intros:
"It's me you're after... you want a shot at the title?" (DF)
"Richard B. Riddick.  Pleasure."
"Let's play 'Who's the Better Killer'." (EFBB)
"Must be a special kinda' desperate dick whos signs onto this." (DF)
"Alright... now you have my attention." (DF)

Wins:
"I just wanted to be left alone." (EFBB)
"You knew you had rats.  You just didn't know how big they were." (AODA)
"I'm just getting started." (EFBB)
[Upon winning with a Hypercombo]"I've been called a lotta things in my day... that ain't one of them." (DF)

Combos
Sidestep: (back-forward-forward)
Intiates a dash that spins Riddick around and behind the enemy, allowing him to quickly and safely sidestep an attacking enemy.  If close enough, he will move behind them.  No hits can register on Riddick when he's using this maneuver.

Shivving (forward + MK when next to the enemy)
Trips the enemy onto their back, where Riddick jumps ontop of them and shivs them repeatedly.

Furian Throw (forward + MP when next to the enemy)
Riddick leaps upward, grabbing the enemy by his shoulders and tossing him/her forward.

Hypers
Butcher Bay Riot Squad (forward-back-back + kick - 2 bars)
Riddick leaps off-screen before a firing squad blasts the opponent; initiated by Riddick's quote, "I think you're gonna need backup." (EFBB)

Howl (back-down-forward + punch - 2 bars)
Riddick drops to the floor as a massive wave of the night monsters of Pitch Black fly in and batter the enemy; initiated by the howling noise of the monsters (PB)

[Super] Pitch Black (back-back-down-back + punch - 3 bars)
The screen goes solid black and Riddick removes his goggles, his eyes being the only clearly-visible thing on the screen.  Darkness lasts ten seconds in which the enemy is stunned the entire time and Riddick can land as many hits as he can in the time limit without interruption.  Initiated by the quote, "You afraid of the dark?  I'm not." (EFBB)

Notes:
Riddick should utilize a fairly-dependable system of countering, being able to break enemy combos and hamper their momentum.
He should also be very mobile and fast in his attacks, similar to Wolverine in speed and attack rate but using more range.

I thought of most of this within 45 minutes.  How satisfactory does it sound?

EDIT:
@Shulocka: I think at this point I don't really have a choice.  It's nagging at me.  But a couple things--

When I say shiv, I'm referring to any crudely-fashioned, homemade knife.  Screwdrivers, metal shards, anything.  My attempt was at his blade that he used in both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, but the shape of the blade seemed to be growing deformed, so I canned it.  The pants, I noticed, you changed to black-- in both Escape from Butcher Bay and Pitch Black, he's wearing the same Olive Drab pants.  He only switches to blackish-brown pants in TCOR.  For now, I'm just keeping it to the simplicity of EFBB.  All the same, I do like your input.

I dunno man.
The more I look at him, the more it seems suspicious that he's too big.  I checked and he's about the same size as Cody of SF3, so he's about right, but still... can't shake the feeling that I'm missing a sub-detail that could use correction.

Good news is that I think I can fashion him a couple blades by modifying some Marrow sprites.  She's got something similar that can be fashioned into something just right.

Worst foreseeable detail in all of this is getting the audio for it; nobody, and I mean, NOBODY is hosting a file of the Alien howling from Pitch Black.  To get it, and just about all the sound files needed, I'm probably gonna have to rip them myself.

Whatever.  Shouldda seen that coming in the first place.

EDIT: Probably also gonna be changing the boots to an enlarged version of Jin Saotome's boots.  We'll see.

Richard B. Riddick (Escape from Butcher Bay Outfit, minus the hand wraps)

Made today from Urien's torso and J. Valentine's Commando pants/boots.

It looks good but the open hand is too big and the pants don't quite fit but it a good start. 8)

I think the hand is an animation problem with Urien-- It's a straight recolor, so the scaling issue is on Capcom.  All the same, I see it too, and I chose a frame with a closed fist.  Also made the shiv from one of Marrow's sprites, as I'd mentioned previously.  Along with that, I used Cody's shoes, closer to Riddick's, and pulled out his face a bit more so he looks less Jason Statham and more Vin Diesel.

Far as I can tell, the knees on his pants are the first issue remaining that I need to correct; in EFBB, they're square, not round.

By the way... if anyone has a fairly-complete sprite set of Cody, NOT in PCX format, I'd really appreciate it as it seems I'm going to be needing his sprites for several details.

EDIT: Also looks like I could serve to fix the shiv-hand.

Lol Riddick.

I can see sprite edits of shadowman now.
Or Zack (Doa) as shadowman.

Change of plans.

This Riddick, though cute, is a bit big.  Also, it's unlikely for this one to have decent frame opportunities.

Though not as original as this one, switching to use Guile as a base will allow easier flow, as well as provide the opportunity to create Ulaks, Riddick's twin steel daggers.  There's a bit of frustration at this as I really wish I hadn't already copied every frame of Marrow's dagger animations.  500+ frames / 2-3 hours wasted doesn't exactly please me.

Also, though the EFBB palette would require some work, Riddick wore dark grey pants and combat boots in the second movie.  This'll obviously have to be what is settled for.

Still important is getting some of Morrigan and Blackheart's demon frames, in order to create the nocturnal monsters from Pitch Black.  At least two or three frames have to be made in order to get it to work.  Also, creating the Butcher Bay guards and Riot Guard suit are going to be difficult.  Suggestions for bases/resources are appreciated.
