Making ginyu work outside of DBZ dream characters
« on: September 06, 2009, 07:57:21 AM »
another tough one probably

Basically Captain Ginyu by Stig87 has this awesome move where he swaps bodys and uses the opponents hyper. However it only works on characters made for the DBZ dream game. Otherwise he just switches bodys and switches back.

I suspect that if I created code references to other characters telling him which hypers to use it would work. However I'm not sure just how to do this. Anyone got a clue.

the files that its in are named hypers and bodychange I think

For those who are curious, yes I am gone and I don't intend to be back soon. I never formally said goodbye to you all, because that always becomes a forum stink. However, to my friends here, I wish you the best. Perhaps I'll be back one day but for now this is goodbye.

Your suspicions are correct my friend. Its like the tag team code in a generic reference. You would have to find the code that activates the move swap and use that for other characters. I haven't looked at the code but I am sure that it is like the tag team coding and that each character would have to have a reference code implemented and that there would be a trigger like a common statedef that all the characters share. I could be wrong but this is how it sounds to me. If you want post a link to me in a PM or what ever and I'll take a look at it for you. You got a thing for DBZ huh? I love DBZ myself.

the character is at the link in the post above.

I love DBZ. I've watched every episode up till half way through the fusion saga. It was taking a major decline by that time so I kinda stopped. And from everything I've heard GT was horrible beyond all comprehension so I guess I stopped at the right time. (actually the right time would have been after goku and majin vegetas fight ended cus as soon as buu hatched it was just over.)

 ;D :-X

He's a fun character too. I pretty much use exclusively the characters off that site for my dbz roster cus their all fun and really well balanced.

I love Stigs work but the sprites look horrible to me. I love the SB and UB22 sprites next to Budokai thats is. I love DBZ BT3, that game is awesome. I have BL for 360 but the roster sucks. There is no Gogeta and he's my favorite. Sorry off topic. I' ll take a look at him and let you know. :)

cool.

Ya I'm not a fan of most of the sprites either. Maybe after I get done with all my WIPs I'll try and get permission to fix the the spriting on a few of them. But thats the distant future.

Capcom makes terrible sprites why would you want to subject DBZ to that  ::)

While they are not the most anatomically correct sprites sometimes, you can't deny they are the easiest on most peoples eyes. Also I think almost every character created for mugen uses something from capcom if not the whole base  ;D...and I don't just mean sprites, capcom has the best combo system around. We can agree to disagree :) (btw I'm no capcom Nazi by any stretch of the phrase)

OFF TOPIC:

Someone actually started making them a mix between Capcom and anime that was looking real good but I lost interest on waiting for the releases so I don't know where I saw it and I don't know if they finished but they looked good. Nappa was of course make from Zangief and Goku was make from a Ryu I think, not sure about Goku though but they looked awesome.

Oh I totally agree on the combo system. Capcom's system was overall the best ever. Rivaled only by guilty gear IMO. But I wouldn't call the sprites the easiest on the eyes. My favorite sprite style is definently guilty gear. Capcom was always a weird on the muscles and a little to pastel, while snk was a but to pixely and all the guys super skinny and mildly effeminate. Guilty gear was perfect though.

I'm more partial to snk. Actually capcom vs snk was probably the best low res  ;D
