Basic Programs For Mugen Creation
« on: June 12, 2009, 08:48:20 PM »
This is not a topic asking for help but rather a thread for those who need programs to create or edit Mugen related items.

Gimp: http://www.gimp.org/ This is a program very similar to Paint Shop Pro but better, its freeware! This is a program that a lot of Mugen creators, graphic artists and those at graphic/art forums use. It can edit .pcx and convert images to .pcx as well. Highly recommended. There is a free animation program at the site as well.

    * German
    * Italian
    * Japanese
    * Polish

Stage Viewer:http://www.4shared.com/get/E87PqwWJ/Stage_Viewer.html This program is used to view stages and may aid in the creation of stages.

I hope this helps.

The main reason I posted this is because I saw somewhere in a post that one of the members needed Paint Shop Pro and the Gimp program is just as good as PSP except for the fact thats its better cause it is FREE. There are lots of programs out there that can be used but if you can't afford PSP and you need a great image modification program, this is the one I would choose. Peace.

I would suggest maybe a thread for this kind of stuff like program links and things that are needed that are freeware that many may not know about. I believe in helping and I think that kind of thread would help those in need and those that would like to try their hand at Mugen creation or any kind of creation. I think not sharing knowledge to those you claim you want to help is misleading.

There are some specific cases where Processing has come in handy for me.

Description from the website:

Quote
Processing is an open source programming language and environment for people who want to create images, animations, and interactions. Initially developed to serve as a software sketchbook and to teach fundamentals of computer programming within a visual context, Processing also has evolved into a tool for generating finished professional work.

It is great if you want to manipulate sprites programatically or create generative-art.

See Open Processing for some mostly creative-commons scripts for some pretty cool generative art.

Quote from: Carl Sagan
Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.
