Plug it into one of your usb ports, and it should work after that.

depends on the controller.  ;) Some you need to go into options & select what buttons do what, like you can customize keyboard controls.

Oh, how do you know then if you have to do the mugen config thing then? The one I got is a Phillips with a retractrable plug thing. I thought I read somewhere all of them cause you to configure something in Mugen, hence this question.

Okay if it came with software install it. if not just plug into the USB

Now you need to start up Mugen and go to options tab, and arrow down to input configure, and hit enter. Arrow down, and select joystick disabled, and switch it to auto. Now if you may have to do a joystick configure to which is right under the joystick tab. This will designate which buttons on your controller designate buttons. for up simply press up, for A button simply press the A button. Save the options, and you should be set.

Oh yeah, if your controller is similar to the PlayStation, you can get the JoyToKey software so that you can have 2x punch and kick.

In Mugen the kick button input starts first, from the top, after the directional inputs where you setup your config.
