WIP Focus Series: Apocalypse by Tenchimuyo4ever
« on: May 11, 2009, 04:19:44 PM »
As part of Batzarro's prize for his representative character winning the Mugen Madness tournament, he was awarded the ability to select some future content for Favorite Fiction. Ironically, he chose a WIP Focus of Rhino as part of that, lol. Funny thing is, odds are I would have contacted him anyway had he not won because you can just tell this character will be great due to his dedication.

By taking the following link you will learn:
- His initial thoughts and inspirations for the character
- Progress update and comments on when he may be in your roster
- Some things he has shared regarding special moves
- You will find out who his coder is and will be blown away just like me

Here is a brief preview:
1) So how did you decide upon bringing Rhino to MUGEN?

Well, I think it first started with the general interest people showed for him when I showed off some of his sprite work. This even included a few of the head people at IMT and I got a lot of PMs about him asking if I was going to work on him. Since I had just finished work on Harley Quinn, I thought I'd take up the challenge. At first, it was pretty easy spriting him and all I really cared for was seeing that brute strength of his.

Once I read the two part special on him (Flowers for Rhino) though, that all changed. It was really well written and made you care so much for the character. This is what got me motivated most and it's what gave me the inspiration to do a lot more unique (and better) work on him.

Let Batzarro know what you think about the things he's shared here. And there is a special shout out to galactus in there as well. Thank you.

To help prepare for the upcoming release of The Punisher, Apocalypse and I churned out a WIP Focus article in a true shotgun fashion that Frank Castle would be proud of.

By taking the link you will find out about:
- How aPoC hooked up with the Excursion and WuCash on this character
- Some talk of the weapons you will see
- A little on Symbiote Punisher
...and more

1) So how did you decide upon bringing The Punisher to MUGEN?

The idea for The Punisher in all honesty wasn't even mine. My best friend Wags, who has a shared interest in Mugen, gave me the idea when we were playing Freeplay and talking about what characters need to be MUGENized. I was working on a SNK Natuto character at the time, but he told me one of the smartest things Ive heard when it comes to creating.

"If you wanna really leave a mark in the community, you have to build a general character that has never been attempted before and can appeal to the public (from what we had believed) and who better then Punisher".

Smart man... and with that follows additional projects of "Angel" and Image's "The Maxx" as intent to help raise the bar for Mugen Creators.

Thank you, and I hope your as ready to blow up some Mugen victims as I am :)

I'm stoked.

I'm also exited for Medieval Spawn, Mystique and Blade. I would say Blade is my most anticipated personally since hes always been my second favorite character after Spawn. Kudos to SJ for his awesome work there.
For those who are curious, yes I am gone and I don't intend to be back soon. I never formally said goodbye to you all, because that always becomes a forum stink. However, to my friends here, I wish you the best. Perhaps I'll be back one day but for now this is goodbye.

When Bonobi won the second chance portion of the Mugen Madness Tournament, he was allowed to choose the subject of a future WIP series article. His decision was Morph, and The Anvil was kind enough to share his thoughts on the the character he is working with Acey on.

The article will discuss:
- The Anvil's motivations for making the character
- Creation points of interest
- Some discussion on how the moves will work

To read for yourself, take this link:

1) So how did you decide upon bringing Morph to MUGEN?

Well basically, I was a huge fan of the animated X-men show back in the 90s. I wanted all the X-men from the team on that show, in the MvC series, we already had the majority, the only remaining were Prof x, Beast, Morph, Jean and Jubilee. Obviously Beast has been taken care of and very well. There are a couple Jeans and Prof Xs floating around and always WIPs of them on various forums, I thought Id take care of Morph (and later Jubilee) myself.

Thank you

Due to CarnageBrunner winning a mini contest at CVG, he was able to choose the subject of a WIP Focus article and smartly selected Scorpion by Hobgoblin.

By taking the following link, you will read about:
- Bases being used
- Progress
- Plans for moves and intros

Well, I'm a big Spider-man fan, and I always loved Scorpion, so when I found some good bases to use for him, I thought to myself, "why not?"

Enjoy.

Due to Thunder Wolf winning a mini contest at CVG United to determine the subject of a future WIP Focus article, me and Tenchi got together to discuss his WIP Apocalypse.

By taking the following link, you will discover
- Tenchi motivations to make the character
- Plans he has in store for moves
- Character intro discussion
...and more.

1) So how did you decide upon bringing this version of Apocalypse to Mugen?

As everyone knows, Capcom had already created a larger version of the character. In making him only a large version I felt, unlike usual Mugen boss characters
like Abyss and Onslaught, it really does not feel like he has a lot of variation and he is somewhat limited. And watching the old 90's television series and looking at all the epic fights he has had in the comics, I knew I really wanted to create a smaller version that utilized what he could do ability wise better.
