Mugen tournament
« on: September 23, 2009, 07:46:47 PM »
i had an idea for some fun, as u may have noticed i havent been around for a little bit, this hasnt been a great year so far but im hoping for a better winter, wish me luck on that front, maybe by winning the lottery or something.
anyway in order to re-establish myself iv opted to host a mugen tournament in which ill post ideas for matches and you submit a video of your epic victory, hardest setting and 300% health. i got the idea from those wwe smackdown games i used to play when i was into wrestling (before things got lame, lol)
as for my wips, currently i have a single sprite of the fighting stance for both redeemer and creech, but i dont want to post anything just yet because i want a full on animation of the 2, spawn and lara croft will be a bit late.
what do you think of the idea?

Thats a good idea, I'm not one to pick fighters though but I would really be happy that you start posting more often and glad to hear about your WIP's can't wait to see your stuff as I know it will be awesome.

i post an idea for a match once every week or 2nd day or however fast these matches tend to be completed and then people post the videos, whoever posts the first video is the victor, no real prizes or anything just pride and fun. once the first match has been posted by the victor ill post another.

sounds like an interesting idea. i suggest double teaming with JDubbs on organization.

i wouldnt call it a tournament though. maybe something achievement related or like a scavenger hunt.

in fact, might be an idea or to expand upon it all with what i just said.

from what i can gather due to my absense, it seems as though JDUBBS is pitting the ai against ai, im suggesting you versus the cpu. give u an example.

single vs single
player 1: spiderman vs cpu: batman

maybe post a sprite of the certain character or something to make it graphically interesting.

JDubbs is following through on an idea of mine, and I think he could help here.

But I'm thinking alter it a bit, like think of some cool stuff the player can do in a vid, more than one thing, and first person to complete such wins. In a sort of XBL achievement style thing, or scavenger hunt. Maybe 3 or 4 diff tasks to make up a round.

one problem with this TW. lots of peeps mess with stats and other data in their game to make it balenced. that will make the tournament unbalenced.

IE in my game, supermans heat vision deals significantly less damage than in the normal version
For those who are curious, yes I am gone and I don't intend to be back soon. I never formally said goodbye to you all, because that always becomes a forum stink. However, to my friends here, I wish you the best. Perhaps I'll be back one day but for now this is goodbye.

what do u mean by scavenger hunt, im not following ur suggestions, could u please define them.
fred; ya i know that people alter their characters a little, but as long as its still fair i dont have a problem with that, if u make ur character invinsible or the cpus character have only 10hp then its no fun but if it is still balanced i think it wont matter much

well, could do in 2 different ways.

just list a few things such as with achievements. like:
- kill dr. doom with duke nukem using the shrink ray
- see wonderman's special avenger winpose
- etc.

a diff way could be to take this concept to the scavenger hunt concept in that you do one of these tasks, and are then told of the next task, and so on til the end.

each time, set up 5 tasks or so, either in the chain of events with scavenger hunt, or all at once similar to achievements.
