Spawn
« on: October 25, 2009, 03:17:01 PM »
Alex recently invited me to add Spawn to legends as a reference to the crossover.

So I'm starting a new topic for him here.

I'm in the process of adding chains right now so I thought I'd look for some feedback on concept designs. I've drawn a single pixel width line in light blue to represent the chains. Todd McFarlane was fairly inconsistant about depicting spawns chains. Some times they were conected back to the skull at both ends while other times they where broken and unattatched at one end. Also the chains sometimes made smooth arches  while other times they changed directions at sharp angles.Lastly I'm not sure if I want to let the chains hang limp or actively circle around him in the stance. Tell me which ones you like.

Top Left: Limp broken ends
Top Right: Active continuous arched
Mid Left: Active continuous angled
Mid Right: Limp continuous
Bottom Left: Active broken ends

For those who are curious, yes I am gone and I don't intend to be back soon. I never formally said goodbye to you all, because that always becomes a forum stink. However, to my friends here, I wish you the best. Perhaps I'll be back one day but for now this is goodbye.

I think the second one in the top row is the best!

ya that ones my favorite too. I'm at a loss as to how to animate it at the moment though. Both the movie and the animated series avoided that style so I only have still frames to go on. Still if that's the one everyone likes I'll go with it.

as I said before, this spawn need more movement in the stand. the breathing this strange.
just out of curiosity, do you have anything else ready or just the stand?
Spawn in Batman Project? I dont think it is a good idea. There are several other characters in the universe of Gotham City they were much better in the project.(Ex: Huntress, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Hush, Mr.Freeze, Prometheus and etc)

I agree the breathing needs some work, I've been meaning to get around to that. Where would you suggest adding motion. It doesn't make sense to me to make his legs move since he is not using a martial arts stance and thus wont be bouncing back and forth on his feet.

for other sprites I'm part done with all the movement and animation sprites but not to the point where their ready to post yet. I'm doing all of them on a step by step basis simultaneously, so they should all kinda pop up around thanks giving when I have enough time to push through and finish all of them.

As for spawns role in the legends storyline you'll have to ask Alex, it's not my dept.

The breathing needs less movement of the costume design...

keep the chest inflation, but not so much pattern movement (looks like a butterfly, haha)

Perhaps, though I think that the main issue is that it is too rapid.

The concept of the game is that each of these characters cover a wide variety of Batmans history, and covers a multiversal time line. This could cover the Spawn Batman x-over, and Spawn could be a sub boss, maybe even be a kind of hidden character for gameplay. Guess we'll see, theres really nothing to lose by his inclusion, and has great potential for unique Batarangs to the face, and to show shoe laced sown face, covered in the story boards, and endings.

Maybe if it was slowed down it would look better, I can meet you in the middle on that one.

sure  LOL

I plan to slow it down at some point and see how it looks from there. Fear not, I'll get it right before I release anything.

spawn in batman game?

....
and his face and head format look weird.
dont tell each 5 sprites of one char is a wip.
wip is not about make single sprites, u should make anims.
i mean, not make one sprite tinking "later it will be animate", choise all sprite base to one anim before start to work in one sprite.
