Help develope cape based moves for Spawn

Hi all I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you all that I should be done with the animated stand sprite soon (breathing, cape, chains all that good stuff) so keep your eye out over the next couple weeks.

Second I'd like to seek the creative advice of YOU, my CVG comrads in developing ideas for spawn. I'm brainstorming attacks and I'm  trying to come up with cape based moves but shooting blanks.

SO, what I'd like to do is ask anyone with any creativity and or knowledge of spawn to come up with cape based moves. Hypers, specials, basics(all his heavy kicks will be cape based instead of kicks.) holds, its all good. After you post an idea I'll add it too a poll up at the top.  :D

I'll be using the moves based on the following criteria.
-The ones with the most votes.
-The ones I like best.  ;)
-Ones that reference the comic or animated series in some way.
-Ones with inovative gameplay effects.

If your move is used in the character then I will put your name in the credits for "Conceptual Design", and possibly select you for beta testing as well when we get to that (though that will depend on your agreement not too share the character until it's official release). :)


So start spitting out ideas.

I like the idea of a "get over here" cape move. I think a move that involves the cape as a type of slash move is good or a move like an uppercut. I think a good hyper would be for the cape to fully engulf an opponent and then the screen goes red and you see the character outlines and you hear a lot of crunching sounds as if the cape if crushing the opponent, kind of like the raging demon move of Akuma. If I think of more I'll post them.

both cool ideas. The "get over here" move is already gonna be done with the chains so that seems redundant but the other is a possibility.

what type move would it be though, hyper??

Zero (KOF 2000 - KOF 2001) has some moves using his "coat". He has a kind of anti-air move that could fit very good in Spawn. Hope this can help you.

the newest stance was really good, and i have got some ideas.i wrote them at spookys spawn too but nevermind, back to the point, here are some ideas

-grab where he trows his chains into the enemy violently and throws him/her to the other side of the screen
-another grab where he drains energy or life using his cape
-special cape block that reflects projectiles
-hyper where he rushes the enemy , holds them up, blasts them with a green magic blasts and, while the enemy is at the air , he stabs brutally his opponent with his chains
-hyper where he grabs the enemy with his chains ,then envolves him with his cape , and send a lot of magic power through his cape,like a magic acid bath.he used it when saving cyan from violator in the comic issue number 54 i think
-hyper where he attaches a lot of shotguns to his chains and then shots them at the same time (spawn issue 104 i think)

great contributions digger, however I already have most of his moves planned so I can only use the cape based ones  :'(. Also I'm focusing on the early issues prior to the appearance change in issue 32. However a lot of those would be great for spooky's spawn.

also, in what issue did he use the life drain thing. I must have missed that one.

i had a throw move with the cape that i was planning for my spawn, tell me what u think, spawn kneels down on his hands and knees and the cape flies at the opponent, envolops them and throws them behind spawn.

I scratched that idea because I wanted to theme it towards the early comics.

 :) yeah I can see that.

My best idea is that looking at those earlier comics will give you an idea at how spawn can utilize his cape. Frankly they always make him seem a darker version of the batman only using his cape to shroud himself in darkness.

ya I know, thats why I'm struggling.

heres the way I'm looking at it though. at that point the cape mostly acts without direction from spawn. thus it would make sense to have moves where the cape doesn't transform since that requires direction and imagination on the part of spawn.
