Thanks guys. Before Empawk finished his version of a classical fighter I wanted to really get out my original version first in the SNES style of gameplay to really demonstrate this type of gameplay in mugen.

I have yet to play a MegaMan conversion that has a control scheme like the SNES so I really worked hard on this to get it working  ~sorta @@

But anyway this is X the way I've wanted him for years. He's older, more boyish/serious, taller, and modern.

This custom version is a combination of a lot of things in terms of design. He is a little bit of MegaMan Legends, MvC, and TAS as X.

 :salute:

An idea of what this is supposed to be for those that are unsure or on the ball?

This is a custom design with the following art styles and schemes.

i just tried him out. honestly he feels like u ripped him straight from a mega man game. I had a hard time adjusting to pressing a jump face button, rather than just pressing up on the d-pad. its an interesting take on the character but he just feels more like he should be part of an action-adventure game, ratherthan a fighting game. nice sprites tho, i didnt see any issues with that so far. but like it says...its a beta. guess i beta get testing some more LOL....ok that was lame..sorry.

LOL thanks

Yeah it is a new thing for me to. I got confused a couple of times as well, but play it enough times and you'll be having a good time in doing stuff you would not have expect to do. I pulled off some combos that aren't exactly programmed to be comes but they worked and it was super cool.

For instance I did an uppercut, then I did a helmet crush while I was down there, while both of us were in the air at a close distance I did a knock down punch. I even switch it up sometimes to performing what i call a jump blade attack. I really should make a command doc in like a readme or something?

Anyway I am gonna try to get more characters from the series in this style to really get that new gaming experience. It's one of my many projects that I doubt I'll ever finish in my lifetime LOL

dude yea defiently make a command doc...that would be super helpful. Also have u thought of giving him moves or supers that represent some of his most powerful robot bosses? such as pharoh man or metal man?

If I ever come back to this, I will create the special moveset from this game, but I will not use them all. I want some real generic stuff, nothing boss specific from the X games.

i see. i only made that suggestion because it might be a little more user friendly since most folks would be able to identify with the boss abilities. cool beans tho...do ur thing pimpin.

Thanks. I thought long and hard about using moves from boss characters but then I thought to myself, even though it's megaman tradition, it was always a disappointment for me when you could easily kill a boss using a special weapon from a previous boss battle. It took the fun out of the danger and dueling out to the last bit of health between you and your foe.

Here is a good example

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGXqRj_yhW8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGXqRj_yhW8</a>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGXqRj_yhW8

Look at 3:00

See that fight, it was completely one sided and boring, I am disgusted by how unfair that fight was and how disappointing it was, it was unbelievably short to, made the whole level to get to him pointless if he could be defeated easily like nothing.

NOW

Look at the same battle with only the buster being used @ 3:00

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKhZ_eMTAEs" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKhZ_eMTAEs</a>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKhZ_eMTAEs

As you can see the battle was much more intense and the victory was well deserved and earned. Also you felt as if you could have lost very easily so it was truly an epic battle. The whole level itself got you prepared and in shape to test your gaming skills against that Ape.

And again Spark Mandrill is an awesome and difficult boss battle, that weakness was truly unfair to one of the greatest foes MegaMan has ever faced.

So I am just doing some generic basic stufff from megaMan Legends with no particular weakness, just a variation in range and power/damage for a typical fighter ;)

If you're going for Mega Man X, then can I suggest some of X's trademarks other than copying enemy moves? Namely, different armor modes, as well as Giga Crush super attacks (which changes for different armors):

http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/X%27s_armors
http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Giga_Attack

If you're just going to use attacks from MML, then you might as well make him into Volnutt instead of X.

If I am to create a different armor, then it would have to be an entirely different character. I'd make it a bonus download thing in that case?

Also This MegaManX all ready has a giga attack as a basic attack, except it's a watered down version.

I wanna try and complicate him less now if possible. He all ready does quite a bit for just doing basic stuff.

Don't be disappointed, MML has excellent moves, in fact some will be similar to MMX's weapons, heck even the classic mm has moves similar to mmx, they are typically the same thing throughout the series.

The only real difference will be a different color scheme :P

But hey you're gonna get arm drill attack, nice for combo-ing if I add some dash, a homing missile (Not that different from Launch octopus), grenade arm (typically any bomb attack ever), and shinning laser (any beam move ever with multi-hit).

And I don't think I'll add more than that. seems like too much all ready LOL

EDIT:

In addition to that suggestion Empawk is doing that kinda stuff with his version, he's gonna have all kinds of armors and attacks, plus I heard also giant mech moves as well with its own abilities to kick and punch/shoot/etc. It it will play more like a classic MvC character with F+F dashing instead of my "A" button dash thing as an example.

You'll probably get to do everything MMX ever did with Empawk's version. In my works I try to do less just to have it easy for play; but I know a lot of fans out there of the series want everything that X does so you'll get it either way. So no worries, I even heard Capcom All-stars is gonna do their own version, the sprites are open source btw. So don't take my version as the final product, there will be many megamanx out there in no time at all.

This is just my westernized/custom version of what X was to me. Think of it as like that custom Link from Zelda that was widely popular in mugen. I did something like that :D
