I was the same way. Growing up the DC comics felt too much like the super friends cartoon. But now what I seem to enjoy the most is their TPBs

DC is all about great stories. What DC lacks is action eye candy. That always will be Marvels thing.

DC in the last 20 years put Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Garth Ennis, Grant Morrison, Joe Loeb, Geoff Johns, Brian K Vaughn, David Goyer and countless others on the map as award winning  authors. Marvel was so strapped for writing that everything was Bendis for a long time.

Marvel has Brubaker, and Ennis now so thats given them some quality at last. However DC is still more renowned for it's writing, but unfortunately in the comic world of big pectorials, and boobs great writing take a backseat to Marvels colorful action oriented books.

Hence marvel still dominates in sales. Just shows that no matter how brilliant an issue of Constantine is, the average person will always reach for the Uncanny Over-Xposed-Men.

Not only does Marvel have more flash but DC is just over kids heads most of the time LOL

I wasn't thinking about social issues, the cold war, biblical parallels etc etc etc when I was 10 or 12

Yeah but when I was about 10 Marvel had a vibrant Chris Claremont on X-Men, Frank Miller and then Denny Oneil on Daredevil, Byrne on Fantastic Four, and John Romita Jr on Spiderman when he was fresh too, so Marvel didn't lack depth in the mid to late 80's.

Recent polls show the average Comic Reader is between 17-45 so it's not like theres much appeal from kids these days.

In England they have TV commercials for Vertigo stuff, and I thought it was brilliant. I Immediately wanted Dark Shadows the new Constantine Graphic Novel.

If DC and Marvel started showing commercials for these amazing events on TV I think it could save the printed comic. Kids luv commercial for stuff, I know I did.

I would have to say Cable and Deadpool.....Or just Deadpool in general.  He is just too funny.  He constantly fights with Wolverine, and has no idea what he does half of the time.  Did I mention he's completely insane?
